Hi Josemar....welcome to the forum.

Maybe if you could show a copy of each of the initial screens or xterm verbage,  it would help us understand.  what is your wireless card?  what is the managed mode form and what is the monitor form?  For example, wlan0 and mon0?  which one do you choose for the interface?  do you then say "y" for airoscript to put your card into monitor mode?  Or, is it in monitor mode already? And so on.

At least it is a good thing you have a working alternative for the time being.

What interface is using?
Note that if that interface creates monX interfaces, it's ok to not use wlan0 but monx, and that's a feature added in lastest svn.
However, I've got to remove multiple calls to monitor_mode ...

Josemar,

Are you running the very latest SVN version of both aircrack-ng and airoscript-ng?  If not, install them.

Try using the individual commands from aircrack-ng to see if everything is working properly.  You can use the Simple WEP Cracking Tutorial as a guide.

I've follow this manual,http://forum.aircrack-ng.org/index.php?topic=4740.0 step by step, in ubuntu 9.04, try to update to the latest version of aircrack and airoscript with airopdate, but nothing. I must explain more, when I change the interface I can do almoust all the thing whit the script, (there is someones that can't i do, maybe becuase my wifi card), the thing is, I don't want to change the interface and evoid the message of error.

Airoscript launches airodump with invalid parameter
« Reply #96 on: September 17, 2009, 11:29:35 am »

Hi there! First of all, I appreciate your work on aircrack-ng and airoscript. However, I ran into a small problem:
I installed the latest versions of aircgrack-ng suite and airoscript. When airoscript, after choosing the interface and configuring it, launches scan mode, it calls airodump with an invalid [interface] parameter. I tried this using both my built-in iwl3945-using card, and rt73 external usb-card. In one case (rt73), the interface paramter is 'enabled', which results in the following error:
Code:
Interface enabled:
ioctl(SIOCGIFINDEX) failed: No such device

Using iwl3945, the parameter is '[phy0]"', apparently.

For reference, debug/echo mode shows the call to airodump:
Code:
xterm -hold -T Scanning for targets -geometry 100*30+0+0 -bg black -fg white -e /usr/local/sbin/airodump-ng -w /dump --encrypt -a enabled
or
Code:
xterm -hold -T Scanning for targets -geometry 100*30+0+0 -bg black -fg white -e /usr/local/sbin/airodump-ng -w /dump --encrypt -a [phy0]"
, respectively.

Is this a bug, or am I screwing up somewhere? Old versions of airoscript (v9, v10) run fine so far.

regards

Well, good we identified it, then. Hope it will be fixed, soon. I'll just use an old version for now. Wonder why I was the first one to experience/mention it.

Yep, it is, try setting IWIFI to mon0 on conffile.
I can't debug it until an affected one sends me the output of
"airmon-ng start your_wifi_iface" or some more info.
You can also put it monitor mode *before* using airoscript, and then select "n" when asks if should put it on monitor mode.

I guess that card isn't MAC80211 so it won't output "monitor mode enabled on foo".

I'll fix that asap.

Should be fixed in new 2.2 release.
Waiting for feedback.

Also please don't post here again.
This is not the correct way to do it, to have a big-as-hell thread with all support requests.
Just start a new topic whith a good subgect in this support forum and/or submit the bug on aircrack-ng trac

End of thread
