So I am a newbie to aircrack-ng. I tryed to crack my own WiFi but i always get an error message.

My WiFi card > Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 > from what i read it should be compatible
OS > Kali linux 2017.2 64bit

Steps i followed > []
> airmon-ng
   sudo ifconfig wlan0 down
   sudo iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor
   sudo ifconfig wlan0 up
   sudo iwconfig wlan0
   airodump-ng wlan0
> After this I get this error >
> In the 'guide' he continues with this command >
airodump-ng -c [channel ID] --write [any name] --bssid [bssid of WiFi] wlan0
> He typed it in same terminal which I cant so I just typed it in new terminal and got this>

Any suggestion on what is the problem?

Hi all!  :D
Can you recommend a good, up-to-date network card (adapter) working well with aircrack-ng?
I think the list at main website is a little out-dated, or am I wrong?

Thanks for your help!

Hi there!

as @kcdtv mentions and my tests confirms, the 12dBm issue is hard coded and shows incorrectly.
however, some new stuff have been added to the driver, both some fixes + adapter support but has not been included in the Kali repo's package.

one issue is currently remaining and should get focus, where the issue is explained at
WPA handshake captures seems to be a problem at the moment.

as you can see here it is locked to 12dBm
Don't bother about this: It is an hard-coded value that you can see here:
Code: [Select]
cfg80211_rtw_get_txpower next line *dbm = (12);It has no relation with reality

Kali 4.13 installed on and booting from internal HDD on an Intel T7400 MacBook. (NO VM, NO DUAL BOOTING).

Linksys AC1200 WUSB6300 WiFi USB adapter (rtl8812au chipset).

The adapter shows up in dmesg on "usb 5-3", but does not make mention of a driver failing (or anything I recognize as an error..).

The adapter shows up in lsusb, again with no mention of an error or failure.

I don't know what to do. Threads elsewhere all involve VM's and older versions of Kali, so the fix attempts there don't quite apply to me...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
