Hey, do you think you can explain some more about the interfaces? I'm not completely clear on how to use them as you said was necessary in your post.

i'm using commview for wifi 7.0 with a linksys wusb6300 usb to capture packets.

..And this is a forum for aircrack-ng.... Why don't you use airodump-ng for monitoring the network?  ;)

If you already have more than one thousand *cap files I guees it will be easier to delete all of them and start again using airodump-ng with bssid and channel filter and using a very easy name to identify the *cap file, such as the essid (name of the red) itself.
Something like this :
Code: [Select]
airodump-ng  --bssid <target_mac_address> --channel <channel_number> -w <essid.cap> <mode_monitor_interface>
you could also merge the *.cap files that you want, but it is gonna be very tedious if you have more tan a thousand capture files  :-\
For his you can use the tool from the suite

This tool handle .ivs files. You can either merge or convert them.

Use –merge option to merge multiple .ivs files. Example:

Code: [Select]
ivstools --merge dump1.ivs dump2.ivs dump3.ivs out.ivs

It will merge dump1.ivs, dump2.ivs and dump3.ivs into out.ivs. You can merge more than 2 files, output file must be the last argument.

and you also have margecap from wireshark (installed by default in kali linux)
Wireshark : Merging capture files

never had this issue before when I used to regularly use aircrack a couple years ago, but now when trying to crack a network with aircrack, after it's done reading the packets it scrolls all the way down to the end of the networks and asks for the target network index number. my issue is that there are thousands of target networks and I cannot scroll up to the very beginning where I assume my target network is to get the correct index number, it only allows me to go up a little bit but still in the thousands range. Here's a screenshot for what I mean using a small cap file (there's far more with the cap file i use to crack the network I want):
