hello

i tried to use aircrack in kali and gemenis auditor in wifislax without satisfactory results..

i have a wireless adapter with chipset Atheros AR9287

is a TP-LINK and the model is: TL-WN881ND

in the terminal i put:

ifconfig

and it says:

eth0

UP, BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST (and the other data)

and

lo: UP ,LOOPBACK RUNNING

when i put:

iwconfig

it show:

lo y eth0 no wireless extensions

then i put:

airmon-ng

it says:

ls: cannot access sys/class/ieee80211: No such file or directory

i follow this steps

1- Do update and upgrade as always. apt-get update && apt-get upgrade && apt-get dist-upgrade -y
2- Install headers. apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r`
3-Install synaptic. apt-get install synaptic -y
4-Open synaptic and type "bcm43142" and search.
5-U'll see 3 different drivers. broadcom-sta-common broadcom-sta-dkms broadcom-sta-source
6-Mark for installation to broadcom-sta-dkms and install it.
7-Reboot.

but the results doesn't change..


i was using all the time a VM ( in this case oracle virtualbox)

if i use and usb booteable with wifislax...

it will detect the wireless adapter ?

where i can see if my adapter is compatible with this programs ?

That link is the wrong solution to the airmon-ng message. It appears when there are no wireless adapters plugged (no big deal) and it is actually removed now.

AR9287 should work just fine. If you are using in a virtual machine (and unless you are using ESXi), you will not be able to pass it to the VM.

If you are not using a VM, attach (or pastebin) dmesg and lspci output so I can see what is wrong with it.

i'm using win 7 home premium ( this is the host) ..

i'm only use linux in a virtual machine or using an usb booteable :/

anyway i will post the commands ( i post the dmesg & lspci output of wifislax  )

do you handle kali and the problem with aircrack in this case or only Wifislax (?) ._.

No desktop virtualization will allow to do PCI passthrough and that's why we have to use USB.

Only bare metal hypervisor will and the only reliable one is VMware ESXi.

So, your only choice if you want to use that adapter is to boot your computer with a USB/DVD with Kali or any other distro.
