How to install RTL8187 drivers
« on: June 07, 2013, 01:01:53 AM »

Completely new so bare with me.

Installed backtrack 5r3 in a virtual box with latest patches. Obviously look to crack WPA wifi passwords

Trying to read "how to's" and "beginner videos" but still need help

Bought the Alpha RTL8187 "which is highly supported" and I'm trying to set it up. How do you install drivers? I type in airmon-ng in the terminal in Backtrack and no drivers/chipset are listed.

The link
doesn't do a whole lot for me. All it tells me that the driver uses mac80211. I click through it and it brings me to
a page with a bunch of commands with no instructions

Several things:
- Use Kali, BT is not supported anymore.
- You have to tell vmware to connect the adapter to the vm as explained in the wiki.
- Drivers are already patched since it's a pentest distro.

Read the documentation before asking questions next time. You have been warned.
