Hi All,

This is my first post here. I am new to Aircrack, Backtrack and wifi scracking. But very exited, nevertheless  . Okay, so coming to my problem here. My Laptop has the "DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card" with the chipset BCM4727/BCM12064000. I want to know whether this card is supported by aircrack. Or does this card even support monitor mode and packet injection.
 I have googled extensively for this information before posting here. From what I gathered, this card is not compatible/suitable for what I intend to d (you know what  ) But in the first post on this  thread http://www.linuxine.com/story/wpscrack-thread , the dude says that he has cracked his wifi using the same card. This seems to suggest that this card indeed supports packet-injection. But this is the only forum where I found a positive. So, just wanted to confirm from the experienced people here, if I can continue with my existing card? I dont want to buy a new card, if my existing wi-fi card suffices. But I wont even hesitate buying a new one, if that is the need. In case, I have to buy a new card, can somebody suggest me a cheap and good card (in the range of 15-20 USD), hopefully one which is available in India. Ohh, btw, in case it matters, I intend to use this on Backtrack installed on a VirtualBox installation over my host WIndows 7.

First off, VMs only support USB devices so your proposed environment is invalid.

If you want to know if it works, simply try of the many live CDs that include the most currently patched drivers.

The aircrack-ng wiki deals with both items above.

Okay. Got you!! In that case, can you please recommend a good compatible USB wi-fi adaptor? As I said, my budget is around 20 USD. I can also stretch it a bit if needed.

Depends on if you want/need N support.  Non-N: Alfa AWUS036H is still the best.

n and non n support is about supporting 802.11n or not supporting 802.11n.
